Just opened my laptop to see if I can upgrade my ram, and yes I can

And I've got space for a 2.5 drive as well!
Fuck yeah!

All I need is a 1080 inside of this :P
But I've just got a shitty built-in gpu...

    What's the laptop?

    Mind me asking Brand & Model (also CPU :P) I am looking to upgrade my laptop soon and am desperately looking for decent workstations (or something I can tune up a bit)

    @dontPanic @dev-nope HP Elitebook with:
    CPU: i7-6500U @ 2.50 GHz
    RAM: 8 GB with a free slot (as you can see)
    GPU: Intel HD Graphics 520 not worth a shit for games
    one of those fast SSDs (m.2 was it?) and a empty 2.5 drive slot (as you can see)

    Also a fingerprint scanner

    That looks like a 840 g3

    I also came to the same conclusion, OP care to confirm also some info on performance, etc.

    @aile11 if you use drivelock on it you need to Cargill on the second drive with the encryption. My work mate distroyed a drive after a bios up date. Lucky we had other ones to recover the data

    @Deadmeatgames to Cargill?

    Well im not using encryption anyways

    You lost me at HP

    @krlooss I know, hp isn't the best, but this laptop isn't bad, or let's say, it works
    It's missing some usbs and a bit of a better gpu for my liking

    @aile11 I've seen one hp burn in flames while standing by. No kidding. Another two lost their sound after less than a year, another one, it's screen died in similar timespan. So I refrained from all hp laptops

    @krlooss well, different people different experiences, yours weren't too great apparently
    We had a few hp laptops so far though, everything was fine there.

    @krlooss my experience of HP is dependant on the range purchased. The professional workstation line have been bulletproof at my work. The consumer grade are almost exactly as you mention. Utter shit.

    You could get one of those external gpu docks
  • 0
    @Dacexi as far as I know they are pricey and huge, so for now, that's not really an option

    @aile11 you don't need to get a razer core or anything like that. There are much cheaper solutions available
