Ah, I've been wondering why people choose to use it, but that must be the reason!

I prefer some compiletime type checks over no compiletime type checks - so TypeScript it is for Browser stuff.

JavaScript isn't simple - the implicit type conversion matrix alone is impossible to memorize.
It has prototypic OOP though - a nice alternative to the traditional classes (which it also has now).
