The real reason why anyone has white background with dark font is: windows is still not capable of dark theme. There will 4ever be parts giving you eye cancer when using dark colors (like in explorer white background bmps *sigh*)

My terminal emulator has a black background with green text. Check out the Hollywood ppa if you're using ubuntu or any of its flavors.
