The last time I tried to root my phone, every method failed. Today I said fuck it. Either I'll brick my device or it works but fuck not having root access on my own fucking device.

It worked! I've got Xposed (😍) back and can finally run a root firewall and XPrivacy again 😍

@Haxk20 First i flashed TWRP. After that, flashing supersu through TWRP! But, i first had to unlock the bootloader, flash twrp, reinstall the system so it will allow booting after OEM unlocking (not doing that causes soft brick) and then flash twrp again after which I flashed supersu!

    Sensor Disabler
    Fingerprint Quick Action

Got those right now but looking for more :(

@linuxxx hmm... I have greenify but never use it's Xposed module, what does it do?
  • 0
Nvm... Was under another section... Hm... Doze on the Go... Yes that sounds nice.... Others not sure...

@billgates not much more than the app haha, think they might be the same :P

Sadly Xposed isn't available for Nougat yet...

    Some other modules worth installing:
    YouTube AdAway
    YouTube Background Playback
    GravityBox
    ANRC

I have 17 modules installed. The system is more unstable than me after 3 days without sleeping. I won't write down all, but I have:
    -Assistant enabler
    -GravityBox
    -Greenify
    -Lucky Patcher
    -YouTube Background Playback

Xposed is not yet available for Android Nougat and I don't think the developers are finding it easy. I missed it alot but fortunately enough, I found most of the modules I used as a standalone app.

@linuxxx 10 years? May God help you bro.
  • 1
@Joberror why? I don't believe in God but perhaps he could help you tag the right person next time 😁
  • 0
@Joberror well these are my specs... Oh n 64gb disk. Did cost $350 tho...
  • 0
@billgates I'm replying to his comment about using his current phone for 10 years. That's somehow to me impossible.
  • 0
    @Joberror uh this one?
  • 2
@billgates @Joberror My last phone lasted 3 months uhm... (Couldn't text and as I don't use whatsapp that's kinda a big deal in my country :/)
  • 1
    @billgates That's a good spec. My Oneplus X almost the same but ain't 64gb
  • 1
@billgates oh! My bad. I misread. Ooops!!!
  • 0
@linuxxx lol! Whatsapp ain't better AFAIK! Maybe you should try Telegram
  • 0
@linuxxx Facebook is a big deal everywhere.. except China, it's blocked there...
  • 0
@Joberror Quit telegram as well recently! Their security isn't that great, their privacy is shit and they haven't released source code for more than half a year which makes that I can't consider their product 'open source' anymore. I don't trust that messenger/service at all anymore!

I'm a long time Signal user though! It's open, actively maintained and works great (privacy friendly as hell)
  • 0
@linuxxx it's more secure and runs through encryption. Newer source code has been released last week. It was delayed because there's not any important updates but this time around call features has been added. Don't have much people using Signals in my country presently
  • 0
@Joberror New source code, didn't know that! Still though, not even insignificant code changes should be published, that's the principle of open source. About their encryption, it's been said by experts that its not that great :/. Link of proof:
    http://gizmodo.com/why-you-should-s...

@linuxxx Their encryption is far better compared to Whatsapp to be fair. Whatsapp has so many unsecured features especially when Facebook got their hands on it. Telegram considered a lot recently, even they adopted a two-way sigin-in.
  • 0
@Joberror Alright that's something that is not true. Not trying to be a meany (😜) but telegram uses a homegrown algorithm which is seen (the algorithm, not the homegrown part although that's not a good thing mostly) as not so secure by a lot of experts while (fml I hate whatsapp but have to give them this one) whatsapp uses the Signal encryption protocol which has been audited and is seen as one of today's most secure cryptographic protocols/algorithms. Whatsapp has 2FA (two factor auth) as well by the way.

As for metadata, whapp and telegram are equally bad though.

I feel so dirty saying this though because I fucking hate whatsapp but after doing a lot of research I dislike Telegram even more too badly :/.
At least I can still use signal I guess :P

@linuxxx And please read the users comments on that post you linked me to. Honestly, most of these bloggers are just plain on their reports or posts. More-so, that was almost a year ago and most of what's written in it is shabby. There's secret chat then different from a private chat which covers the encryption part. Recently, encryption has been activated for all chats and users even the newly activated Calls.

And who's FBI to keep requesting for an encryption, when they are the realest scam and threat to everyone. I smell hypocrisy from that.

@linuxxx I can't trust Whatsapp after being owned by Facebook and that has to rely on Google's drive as a cloud to store users chats. Maybe you need to get more from core Telegram users instead of being misled by backbitters. Everyone from the onset was afraid of Telegram due to the fact that it has most of his base users in Pakistan, Iran etc...

@Joberror I've read numerous articles about this subject, not just believing anything I read, don't worry :). I can't find the part about end to end encrypting everything by default so if you have a link that would be great!

I am not saying that they don't have encryption, I'm saying that a lot of cryptographers have said that telegrams encryption just isn't that good.
I'm not trying to be annoying or anything at all, I'm just trying to make clear that telegram isn't as secure as a lot of people think =).

Also not trying to fight or anything in case you'd think that!

@linuxxx I ain't calling you a hater but maybe you should get down to the core users of Telegram and ask questions.

People tends to forget "Secret Chats" during their discussions then which appears to be encrypted and most of the articles were over a year ago. Recently, more have been done to make it more secure and reliable.

Privacy on Whatsapp is like a dream that'll never be real. Their approach is unreal, more reason why you have the likes of GBWhatsapp, Whatsaap Gold etc, correcting this issue which to me is still a coerce.

@Joberror Hey man, I've been a telegram user myself for more than 4 years now. I quit it recently due to the fact that their encryption just does not seem to be that good and of course, the metadata story. I really want to keep using it for people who don't want to use Signal yet but if, after the things I've read online, I can't say that I trust a service, I just rather not use it anymore πŸ˜€
I think it's still better than whatsapp though because fuck Facebook :)
  • 0
@linuxxx No problem man! I heard Signal is more secured though but unfortunately, in my country, it's usage is like Zero. I enjoyed Telegram for its features aside from the security stuff.

Always know this, "The only thing more secured is what isn't let out of your mind yet."

    Have fun!!!

@Joberror Fair enough! Where are you from if I may ask? And yes agree with that statement xD
  • 0
@linuxxx I'm from Nigeria, in the city of Lagos to be precise.
  • 0
@Joberror Oh wow I did not see that one coming haha!
  • 0
@linuxxx Hope no problem with that? Saw the app on Playstore yesterday night and decided to try it out. It's been fun though. Wish, I know about it before now.
  • 0
@Joberror nonono, no problem of course not! Was just not expecting it and welcomes by the way!
  • 0
    @linuxxx Yeah! Thanks...

@linuxxx hey random question, do u use ProtonMail/encrypted emails?
  • 0
@billgates nope I don't use protonmail BUT I do use TutaNota which is very similar (tutanota.com) πŸ˜€. Been using it for three years now and can only praise it!
  • 0
@linuxxx I see it's open source, Proton prolly just commercialized it. tbh I use Gmail but dinner up for a preview a yr ago so got an invite so just joined...

Got a message today which sent a notif to my Gmail so that's what brought this up 😁
  • 0
@billgates Ahh fair enough! I do recommend tutanota a lot but hey, use whatever suits you :)
