    IQ 0–90: why have long code if short does the job

    IQ 91–120: noooooo you can't just solve it like this it should be scalable!! multiple inheritance! dependence injection! actors that call services that initialize controllers! code smells!

    IQ 121–200: why have long code if short does the job

    @NoMad 😅
    @kiki hahaha and IQ >200: Why code at all?

    Depends a lot on the task too. If you know features will soon be added... might make sense to also not write way too much code. Refactor only when you start feeling its needed... though I guess by definition you would have to have a lot of experience to have a feel for when that time comes hehe

    What is phptsd? Php Traumatic Syndrome Disorder?
  • 1
    @Frederick lol 😄
    @hack Yes, caused by a complete garbage CMS written by lobotomized hobos

    @hack Phptsd HTTP POST Traumatic Stress Disorder

    I keep telling my peers that my code is overcomplicated and they shouldn't learn from it but all they see is the untainted brilliance of resolving Commands from a Facade on an unknown set of services connected by Dependency Injection using Double Dispatch.

    It takes an expert beyond me to identify the things that will never change (or if they do a full refactoring is in order anyway), which would facilitate sane architecture.

    You need to learn when to keep things simple and when to use every oop concept you read in a book.

    This takes many years, and junior devs coming from Java loves to overcomplicate things by adding interfaces to everything.

    BUT junior devs coming from php, python and javascript builds god objects and doesnt use interfaces for anything...

    @lbfalvy Who doesn't like Double D? 😏

    @PonySlaystation Me, cuz I got a pair of F. 😜

    @Frederick actually that is how stuff gets sold to the ones with a weak mind. The Great idea to replace us is almost as old as our profession and as a promise has been sold more than the Terminator franchise.

    @NoMad My ex had some too... was always telling me what a struggle it is to find a good sleeping position 😅
  • 1
    @PonySlaystation I only find it hard to find a good pair of bra. But otherwise I like them so I don't have much to complain. Even if that means only sleeping on my sides.
