Hey guys! I'm new here, and also in programming... I'm finishing my studies in Python and I would like to ask you a question, if I can... what else should I learn that would help me? I intend to start my "career" as a web developer, at least for now... did I do it right? am i starting wrong?

    @Paps Welcome to our community!
    Web development is not easy but quite rewarding. I love the fact that you can do almost anything in a browser, even Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.
    Never give up! 😉

    Avoid web development if possible. It was great twenty years ago. But now it is hell and you probably want to avoid it at all costs (still better than game dev though).

    @Oktokolo can you tell me why? And what do you recommend?

    @Paps: Web dev today is mostly about memorizing the hippster framework of the day with no time to do any actual functionality yourself or write clean markup or CSS. It also by now is a highly overrun market. You will compete against the lowest bidders of the least developed countries (so if you live in India, it could actually be a good job, but i don't know for sure).

    And gamedev basically invented the crunch. You might be full of power today, but it will not be this way some years from now. Coding is a braindraining skill. Doing some overhours might be okay, but doing the crunch that is normal in that industry is just burning your brain out fast.

    BTW i assume mobile dev to be a mixture of web dev and game dev.

    That said, it highly depends on what you like the most.

    I liked the small companies the most. Feels more like you actually make an impact and they often have some actual culture. Have to be a selflearner and take initiative there though.
