It's going to be an interesting year for Twitter.

Either it will grow and profit, or dig it's self a grave where it stops existing in the name of free speech.

Twitter has an almost bizarrely stupid UI. Want to see the replies to a tweet? Oh, well, you click on the time it was posted. Obviously.

@ultrageoff I don't even click on twitter links anymore unless I have the patience to change it to nitter.

@Grumm @saucyatom that's why i use the browser addon "Privacy Redirect", it has invidious, twitter, instagram etc alternative frontend redirects

No probably not. Place is a cesspool. As far as open source, I don't remember headlines of Tesla contributing or SpaceX. I doubt he'll fost an open source community. He's rich, all rich people take and try not to give too much back unless it's bought and paid for. So he'll consume open source code, but I doubt he or his companies will contribute too much.

Big companies would never open source their code and why would they? Car manufacturers would release their blue priants for free either.

Also the aspect of censor and lack of freedom of speech is far more important morally than having access to their entire source code.

Only aspects that open source somehow could have a posstive affect that isnt useless would be for that how their recommendtion alogs etc would work, so we actually be sure its ehtical. (But even thst sould be limited to a government level)

Making everything opensource for just the point of it is useless. It depends on the project to project, being closed source is nothing to to about being "greedy".

@Frederick actually... At least one car manufacturer is planning to open source some of the firmware.

@iiii planning. And I'm guessing it's because you can already connect and download it. I'll believe it when I see it.

@demortes I don't know what do you mean.

@iiii sounds like they haven't yet. So I won't be trusting they will.

@demortes yes, they haven't yet. That's why I've said "planning to"

@iiii you've missed the point. It's not my lack of understanding what you wrote. I'm skeptical that they will until they actually do. That's what I meant.
