sariel84473yDuck duck go does this natively.
It's one of the reasons why I've been using it as my primary search. -
C0D4669023y@asgs use this:
code "Javascript array reverse"
And a "software" tab will appear if you're lucky.
Or you can use the bang
!code Javascript array reverse
But that site can take a millennia to load 🥲 -
@sariel hmm i just feel like duckduckgos search results suck.. i really dont like google but ive tried ddg and didnt get what i want even if ir was easy
-
It seems DDG was designed to be programmer friendly as their search queries are well defined anyways, it doesn't work great for vague searches, and image search is just useless.
-
sariel84473y@asgs I use Firefox if that changes anything. But like @C0D4 @theabbie said, it's hit or miss depending on your query-fu.
I would say 90% of the stuff I search for shows up with working examples.
It's actually really smart of them to do this too. I wouldn't doubt if a large percentage of users that search online are all related to software development.
It's about time we got a dedicated search engine. -
sariel84473y@joewilliams007 this is a good point.
I use Google for all of my less than ideal searches 🏴☠️
DDG does get me there eventually, but Google's indexing algorithm is still optimal. -
@sariel yeah. I would hate to think about what search engine i will use since i just use the adress bar.
However when it comes to things that might be censored, or kinda illegalish but not harmfull to anyone, google is terrible -

sariel84473y@asgs I usually preface my searches with the language.
"ruby parse json" should bring it up. It at least works on my machine. 😂 -
@sariel hey im in Germany i think sometimes i look up stuff but cant find it on google cuz its restricting me from it.
-
@sariel i do it the other way 😂 i usually do e.g. replace all java
bad example but when i started with java i was confused why .replace doesnt .replaceAll
