    "hey, now that we're all done we can sit down right?" - remote manager

    🤬

    Meetings are just so that the managers can feel like they're involved somehow.

    Yeah I've run into this 15 minute blocker every morning actually so maybe we can work on eliminating that?

    @lassiecoder I like standups :c

    but they:

    - can't last more than 15 minute

    - either need to be the first thing in the morning or the first thing after lunch, otherwise they force me to extra context-switch

    but I find them useful sometimes, they keep me informed about the rest of my team. They are a centralized exchange of problems so people can immediately hook up from a pool of people that might be able to help and they keep me on track.

    but managers, if you put your standup 1-2 hours after work starts, then I'm just not going to work! That's too little time to get anything useful done... so essentially if I come at 8 and you put daily at 10, what I really see is

    [useless time][meeting][useless time][lunch][post lunch drowsiness][finally some work][end of day]

    incredibly difficult to work a day when the daily is put on a stupid hour

    Wow, I totally misinterpreted that as standup comedy. I haven't been subjected to a standup in about a year 😂

    Our team lead loves stand-ups. He easily quadruples it's total duration when he attends.

    He's famous for it 🙈

    I hate it but I need it. I’m “that guy”. I keep notes but sometimes don’t remember all of what I’m supposed to be doing from day to day unless we have a rolling standup meeting to coordinate it all.
