I think I speak for everyone when I ask, "How did the conversation go between @trogus and @dfox when they were setting out on creating this app?"

    "Pass the pizza"

    "What?"

    "Pass the pizza"

    "K"

    A number of years ago @trogus and I worked together at a company where we first met (I was a developer there and Tim did UX/design). We noticed a lot of people, mainly devs and of course us, complained a lot and enjoyed doing so.

    Through the years the more developers we met the more we realized there was a huge void in a place that devs could go to vent and vent to an audience that understands them. Eventually we said "let's do this!"

    @dfox Great Job

    @dfox kudos for thinking "there is a huge void" and not "there is a huge market opportunity" ;)

    @mannyCalavera who are you kidding? We're programmers, of course we're thinking about money 😂

    How are you guys planning on making money? I hope it is not blackmailing by exposing my rants about project managers to the public. Really though there are needs that are not being met for devs like online profiles that don't stink like linked in, opportunities to work remotely in teams, ability to learn and ask questions without people being pompous jerks.

    @georgelynch I disagree. Extending too far is how apps die. The simplicity of this platform is beautiful

    @georgelynch interesting ideas. We also have some ideas. In the short term, just to help us generate some a little money, we'll be opening the devRant store soon and selling some really cool merchandise that we think people will like.

    In the future, we're not opposed to anything as long as it goes in line with what the community wants and things that will help the community in general.
