I take a CS class in the UK and can not believe how people use technology. Almost everyone is using smartphones and stuff but somebody can't get out of fullscreen in chrome.

Think of how silly an average human being is. Now recall that about a half of the population is even sillier.

You mistake knowing the sequence of taps required to accomplish something with actual understanding. Just because they know which icons and buttons to tap on their phone to get the desired result, doesn't mean they actually know anything about using it.
I know how to drive a car, but if it starts making a weird sound, f*ck if I know what that means 😛
