FUCK YOUR FUCKING FUCK SHIT .GITIGNORE FILE! WHY CAN'T YOU JUST FUCKING REMOVE THE IGNORED FILES FROM THE VCS? EVEN GIT RM --CACHED --FORCE DOES NOT WORK WTF

    Do you want to delete the files, or just exclude them from the repository?

    @tamar I already fixed it by deleting them, because it was just the "vendor" folder from composer (php). I wanted to exclude them from git.

    a few things to try (notes for me next time I search google with git and expletives and get this result).

    1. ".gitignore" only works if the file is UTF-8 encoded. you can check its encoding by doing `file .gitignore` from the terminal.

    4. also could be the naming convention used in the gitignore file
