It seems nobody is managing this. I can't tell if that's worse...
Got told I was helping another project today, no work there either! -
Someone should have a project plan. If there is not currently a plan then one should be created even if it is a simple one with tasks, timeline, resources, critical path and milestones. I think it will help you stay organized and bring projects in within the deadlines. Thoughts?

you are lucky. that means free time to improve your existing code base by building better tests, increasing automation and all the other things you always wanted but never had time for.

There is a plan, but the way the company works is to have one guy be a bottleneck for all work. Technical designs are written for every piece of development work, but it's not the developers doing the work that write the designs

JiraTicket, normally I would agree with you. Sadly I'm only 4 weeks into a new job, in a new industry to me. I have no idea how the application works, nor have enough knowledge about the domain to write any useful tests. Im slowly making progress on improving the static analysis tooling for our sql, but again I need input on what constitutes a good rule

Every piece of work I have to do is blocked, waiting on someone else pulling their finger out. 2 days now, and no progress no matter how much I chase. Bored!
