Apparently myopia is correlated with not being outside (in the sun) enough, so I'd say sure - Still, it's pretty dumb to say ;-;

It's somehow caused by a lack of bright sunlight, though iirc the actual mechanic is still unknown.

i asked my eye doctor when i was 15 and got my first glasses, she laughed "nah thats a myth" followed by an explanation about how long you would have to stare at a screen to cause problems
