Unless you're doing ios or Mac apps, I don't see why you'd NEED a mac for dev work. Linux ftw! :)

atheist99828yExactly what I was going to say. If you are targeting Mac you need a Mac, otherwise running native Linux or Windows with a Linux vm is the way to go.

If you really want to have options, get a computer you can easily hackintosh, and then triple boot macos/windows/Linux :')

Check out the Dell XPS13, 4k, touch ;)
I bought the Ubuntu Edition (on Dell's website), great for development, fast and solid battery life! (I have a Windoze and OS X VMs on it too)
I heard the touch bar macs were not that good and practical... -
Having been dumped with a Mac at work for a year now, I can tell you the ERGONOMICS WILL KILL YOU. I've used MY OWN MONEY to get a different mouse, keyboard and the iMac sits on top of two Java 2 books.
The initial excitement of such a suave looking desktop has been totally ruined.

I'm thinking of getting a Mac for development purposes. I have a PC currently. Any opinions on what I should get or anything I should know before hand?
