Microsoft are you serious! You are installing a major update that will take a while, specifying that it will restart my computer many times without even asking if I want to proceed with it now or later! I don't have my charger ! What would happen if It goes out of battery! Damn you Microsoft !! Isn't there any good OS or what! Windows is sometimes buggy ! Linux distros don't make use of GPU! And I don't even talk about Mac.. God damnit we're on year 2017 and made so many astonishing work and still there is no fully operational and good OS! 😬😬😬

Lets make one together, release the beta, show to the entrepreneurs, take money, hire more employers, improve it and compete it with mainstream ones. What say ?

@sam9669 haha yeah thought of that while writing this .. but we would just be like any Linux distro : we may be really good but if the biggest companies don't make versions for your os , you're not worth it.. no driver update, no game working, no development tools.. we may develop some but we would never have a large scale as Windows..

@omomthings Microsoft got its boom in sales and became mainstream because of the then tech giant IBM, so we just gotta find one big company in out age, possibly Google (?) , totally revamp a new os and make it mainstream for all the Chromebooks ?

@sam9669 uhm that may sound more realistic to be honest..! Now all we have to do is to impress Google! :D hahaha

    @omomthings exactly XD

Hmm it asked me many times to set options when to install whether automatic or not. There are settings you should check them.

    Or use manjaro 😉

@juzles yeah but that's a strange update trust me, even the interface is changing now.. now it's been for more than an hour and it's 50%..

@omomthings if your battery does die during the install don't worry. It will hibernate at about 5% hopefully your battery isn't degraded so it should be fine.

Checkout OOSU10 it let's you turn lots of Microshit stuff off like preventing forced restarts for updates. Blah blah blah.... :) basically it fixes Windows.

I'm all for doing updates regurlarly, especially to get security fixes.

But this update? It's disguised as a regular update that requires a restart, but it is anything but that.

For starter, it's LONG. I expect more warnings if it's going to last more than 5 minutes (it did last about 20 min on a powerful rig, normal computer will probably get at least 30 min, perhaps an hour on laptops with slow HDD).

Also, it's not a minor update. It feels like a different OS version, since you are shown a "Welcome" animation, trademark of new OS version/fresh install.

It also installed things I never asked for, also a trademark of new OS version.

Get your shit together Microsoft, this kind of things is why we don't trust Windows update and why less educated users prefers to run a vulnerable OS rather than enable automatic updates.

Hmm never happened at work or home(5 computers).

The only time was when i said for almost a week(no update) and then it forced me to do it even then gave me choices.

Why so much hate on updates?

It finished after 4hours, it's not a hardware speed problem it was running on a fresh last gen i7.. but yeah some params went back to default and I had the 'welcome we are working hard to keep you updated' bullshit.. made me rage.. at least it should do those things by night, when it's connected to sector plug ..

@Greggergalactic not all the softwares are available on Mac, and before even talking about osx versioning that is a deep shit, Mac are too expensive..

Linux doesn't make use of a GPU? You for real?
  • 0
@ddulic go make some researchs about Nvidia graphics cards and the drivers.. none is released by Nvidia, there is just a project (can't remember the name) that badly uses the GPU when needed but the energy management is bullshit..

@omomthings being not so good and/or you not knowing to set it up isn't linux "not using GPU"
Both a GPU and even switchable graphics can be configured. It just isn't that easy always.

I think I'm more or less in @omomthings 's situation, my laptop does weird shit with nouveau but Nvidia drivers, I probably misconfigured them because it takes ages to pass through the Nvidia screen
Also can I disable it? It's annoying
