Stack Overflow is the coldest developer place ever. There is no love. Just questions, most of which unanswered.

Ask them why and all you'll get is how you made "mistakes" or formatted it wrong or something
  • 3

The accepted answer is not always the best / flawless

@Kimmax True but the SO community are mostly dicks.

that's why I just stalk from time to time there .. comments like, you've been here 1 year and 5 days and 33 seconds is making me not want to be part of that sh_ nice answers

@umnikos stackoverflow has a quality which is only because of its strict moderation. You put your question well with some code sample and ask specific questions you will immediately get answers and most of them are very supporting. There is a reason why moderation is so strong over there and it should be infact

@nblackburn I guess they are also humans who have jobs but still they sit on and help and answer people ,that's how a community is built. When I first asked my few questions I got down voted to eternity but after that it put on good habits in me.

@Kimmax But the accepted answer worked for the asker. Isn't that what matters?
  • 2
@anekix It's not so much helping anymore, SO bred a community focused on badges and awards so now it's mostly about that than good will.

Sure, some people have good intent but introducing any form of currency and all that goes to shit.

@Drastic sometimes accepted answers are wrong or have some bug or some edge case missing or something which shouldn't be there.bad answers even if it works are still bad.

@nblackburn the community is very well matured and it's very though to game it for badges and points. Also you don't get any points for moderation

Sounds like most FOSS cultures. @freshlyfe

    Internet points aren't real.

@juzles isn't that ok though? If you ask a question, expecting someone to take some time out of their life to HELP YOU, isn't the least thing you can do is ask a well formulated and formatted question? I don't see the problem here.

@simeg without explanation what is bad only ITS BAD comment?
  • 2
@SamsungMao the problem is being religious about stuff and forgetting that everybody has started somewhere ...
  • 1
@juzles I have no idea. But if you google for it, there's a lot of info on how to write a good question.

If you put effort in the question (your attempted solutions, your relevant code, current output vs expected output) it will be well received.

Woah, I just saw a question being reported as duplicate and not getting closed because no other answer on similar threads was a valid solution for the particular problem that the asker had.
