battleground: work from office vs work from home?

comment your opinion below with age and total years of work exp.

let me go first: 24 yo, 2 yrs of work exp, i think wfo will be a better choice for me for next atleast 6 years . even though i am a covid grad with hreat experience via wfh, i got a trial experience of wfo and realised that osmosis gives a lot better perspective and knowledge growth than internet does

neither. WFA -- work from anywhere.

I worked from an office (2 people per room) for 12 years, the company switched to work from home during Covid but converted back in 2021 so I switched company. I can choose where I like to work so I work from home. I only visit my company (50min ride one way) when it‘s worth it (prototype demos, user tests, parties). This happens once every two months. I love it!

I’ve been working in company that allows up to three days of wfh per week. And you HAVE to be at your own place for insurance reasons supposedly. My next gig is in a company where it’s all wfh. But I’ll be able to work from anywhere l want, meaning if I want to rent a chalet in the Alps for a week and work up there, that’s fine as long as work gets done

8y exp: 3 at office, 2 at home, 3 hybrid. currently work 1-2 days/week at office. Work from home for code , minor meetings, avoiding traffic & work at office for all the rest: important meetings, free coffee, socializing, getting other teams to do stuff faster, enjoying the city, after works etc

During covid the lack of in-person coworker socialization really took its toll on my well-being

6 year experience here. Work from home all the way. I dont want to be around people at the office wasting time over meetings, lunches, tea breaks and FuN FrIDaYs.

And holy crap the commute, nah fuck nah I am not doing that shit again.

I would rather stay at home and put my hours in.

My vote is for individual employees' free choice.

wow. the perspective change that i can feel after coming from my office to home is mind fucking levels of hypocrisy.

in 5 days i was super convinced that wfo is the only thing, my priority should be to focus on career over money or personal life, my life choices should be around my job.

1 day in, i am sitting in my room with all doors locked and a pin drop silence, and my mind says wtf? why would i want to do that!!

a) i have been known among so many people at the company even before visiting it physically. i was next to tech lead in terms of dealing with queries related to product. i had made caliber of a top engineer while being at the proximity of my home. so every one saying that i need to be at office to learn nd grow means i will only be learning about a product in depth, not becoming a master of tech. so fuck that, i can live without it if my product is not worthy.

b) going from 90% savings to 10% savings? hell nah. either open office at a cheap place or give me more $$$
