The increasing number of people with pronouns in their profiles at my job is really annoying. I don’t know you and I am not participating in your delusions with you. If the company makes it mandatory, I will refuse and force them to fire me over it. I cannot work effectively at a company that has hallucinating employees with no grasp on objective reality. There’s no way to know whether decisions are based on solid objectivity and data or just how someone “feels”.

Tell them you identify as a robot that sees all humans as units. Then start assigning them unit numbers. If they get upset then express your dissatisfaction with them not supporting your world view.
  • 8
@Demolishun I like where you are going with this. Calling them 1 (useful) and 0 (useless) is very binary yet unisexual. So they have no case.
Especially at my company they go out of their way to call the robots anything but human resources. This will be fun to watch unfold.🍿
  • 8
Conservatives have such a victim complex they want to feel persecuted for being asked to show some basic respect to other people who *work with them*.
  • 11
@Jeeper how dare you assume their pronouns are they/them
  • 9
@jeeper what is basic respect? Should everyone respect anything that anyone might say or do?
I mean this in general. Some things deserve no respect. Flat Earthers is a good example.
  • 4
@IdontHaveAName you are right one the money there mate. Last week I saw a colleague seriously hurt because she was referred to as they/them in a meeting just because she has short hair and is a bit chubby. There is not a non-binary bone in her body.
  • 3
I try to use they/them as much as possible. No one can rightfully be upset at the absence of an assumption. Gendered pronouns are a fault in the English language and avoiding them altogether is the least invasive fix.
  • 3
The neutral plural has been used for people of unknown gender for many centuries. With the increasing number of transgender and queer people, everyone is of unknown gender. If they tell me their preferred pronouns and I forget them, back to unknown gender.
  • 3
@oiledwheels Nobody, and I mean nobody in the future will look back on this dark era of idiocy and say “Gee, what a great idea it was to play pretend with crazy people and completely overturn all language, social conventions, and basic biological science to confirm the delusions of a tiny percentage of dysmorphic people who created a mass hysteria by being given a social megaphone.” It won’t be that way at all.
  • 2
@oiledwheels Explain detransitioners who finally woke up and realized they had been part of a mass formation psychosis event and now their body parts are gone.
  • 1
    First world problems
  • 1
    @oiledwheels Vastly larger?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤡
  • 7
@stackodev I am more concerned with those that realize they are not in fact trans and then are subsequently attacked and belittled. It tells you what you need to know about that community.

I have heard similar stories about people who could not live a vegan diet because of nutrition issues. The community then turns on them and treats them like pariahs.

If you disagree with the trans community you are automatically attacked and maligned and called transphobic. It is not phobia, it is pity.
  • 9
@jeeper Nobody gives a flying fuck about your pronouns.

HR does this to cater to emotional cucks like yourself so they have can some level of retention, otherwise nobody gives a shit that you fuck a horse, or a goat, or a midget.

It's just that nobody cares, yet you people shove it continuously 24/7, becomes a forced topic of discussion. And it's getting tiresome and mindless.
  • 4
@Demolishun Watched Putin speech this morning, exactly about the culture manipulation compared to Russia vs the west.

It resonates to me and I feel a lot of the people who are being suppressed by MSM.
  • 2
bruuuuuuuuuh I just posting a rant on something similar to this bullshit.
  • 8
I don't get the hostility here.

You know what? It's kind of annoying to me too when I see all the pronouns on peoples' emails when it's people who are clearly what we used to call straight (I guess it's cis today? I can't keep up). They just want to show how "enlightened" they are, and that's annoying.

But for the people who actually feel like they are in another box, it seems like a simple question: how is it hurting me in any way to use the terms they want me to use? And you know, the answer is always the same: it doesn't hurt me. Not in any way, shape or form. As long as you're not kicking down my door yelling that I need to use this word or that, I'll call you whatever makes you happy, no skin off my back.

I'm a live and let live kind of guy. You wanna talk about "objective reality", what about objective freedom to be happy? That's what matters. Let people do whatever makes them happy - so long as it's not hurting anyone - and we can all get along, right?
  • 6
@fzammetti objective freedom to be happy, sure, I get you, I really do, but why are others to be forced to accept the beliefs and ideologies of others in regards to language?

I am 100% on board with the gay/trans community and everything in between, but fixating on something as stupid as language, in particular to pronouns seems really...really stupid.

You are a trans man and wanna date women? by all means. Couple of lesbians? no problem, trans man that identifies as gay and dates men, on board.

"caLL Me Xhey" <--- this is just retarded.
  • 7
    Stuff like this.

This is what we are up againsts. @fzammetti

@Demolishun haha I like that sort of malicious compliance

    @Demolishun
Me, a robot: “Unit 347-E, what is the status of the new project.”

Moron: “Are you addressing me? My name is Tim. Not…whatever you said.”

Me: “Error. I identify as a robot. Everyunit is a number to me. This unit will accept its serial number designation or I will report it to HR.”
  • 2
@stackodev Why did I read that in a robot's voice?
  • 3
@oiledwheels lmao, out the door your go.....

Nobody is talking about being transphobic but endless repetition of the same subject. Teaching it in schools, doing drag hour BS. It is abnormal for what it is, but you do you and leave the kids/workplace alone about who you fantasize having sex with.
  • 1
    Somehow, you offended 40+ genders
  • 1
@oiledwheels you haven’t read the comments and haven’t understood what it’s actually about.
You just see "oh this is against trans" and paste your generic complaints and accusations.
  • 3
@Lensflare he is a weakling, feeble minded sheep.
  • 1
This is why the “Emperor’s New Clothes” story exists. The whole trans thing is exactly that. And the other thing is that they always say gender and sex are different and disconnected. Ok, so why is the chopping off of body parts necessary? If a biological woman can “feel like” a man gender and vice versa, and gender is independent of genitalia, then keep your genitalia and live with that illusion. Adults, ok, whatever. But LEAVE THE KIDS OUT OF THIS OR SO HELP ME I WILL SCREAM!!!!
  • 2
you're willing to get fired over two words on your profile, but sure, everyone else is unreasonable
  • 3
@darksideofyay He stands for his own beliefs which is admirable on its own unlike just go with the herd or hive mind or rather mindless. This is how we make change.

And if you don't ridicule the stuff, it will degenerate further.
  • 1
@darksideofyay I see. They get to stand for their beliefs but I don’t get to stand for mine. Sounds utterly reasonable. What was I even thinking. Stupid me.
  • 5
  • 2
@stackodev it shouldn't mean so much to you, why do you even care? i think being nice and respectful to others is more important than pettiness. people accept a lot of bs from companies, but you're telling me two words on your profile is where you draw the line
  • 1
@darksideofyay “Why are you noticing that we’re actively trying to uproot all of society and force parents to allow their kids to chop off body parts but which fact we will openly deny and ask you why you even care if you point it out to us!?!”

I’m drawing a line in the sand.
  • 1
@stackodev ??? find me a place in the world where kids get cosmetic surgery for gender dysphoria. the most you'll find is puberty blockers and those are perfectly reversible
  • 2
@stackodev and btw kids are getting their faces chopped up for a long time now, but cosmetic surgery in any other case is fine 🙄
  • 2
@stackodev oh and, pronouns on bio are very different from surgery for kids, you're doing a lot of mental gymnastics to get there
  • 2
@darksideofyay I have been verbally and physically attacked by unknowingly referring to a biological woman as "she" when said person had a plethora of pronouns that wanted to enforce on others. Even after I apologized, I was still attacked.

Extreme cases like these might be one thing, sure, and being nice and respectful for others is always better than being a grumpy asshole, but respect works both ways. But "the other people might not be willing to participate with my ideologies" is something that should be the norm, not: "everyone should comply with my ideologies"

And identifying as something is literally so unimportant that I do not want to believe that these are conversations that people normally have.
  • 1
@AleCx04 sorry that happened to you, but i walk with a lot of lgbt folk and I've never seen that happen. what i do see though is trans people getting harassed and injured, like a lot. I'm much less concerned about pronouns on bios and more with anti trans bills being passed in various places. this talk is a bit tiring to me, it's fuckin shallow
  • 2
@darksideofyay which is way I said that these are extreme cases and not something that happens a lot.

For what it counts, I support trans rights, as I mentioned before, I have no issues with people of the lgbt community and I do not believe that anyone should be harassed for said things.

I just find the whole "refer to me by <X>" as weird and unnecessary.
  • 2
@AleCx04 i mean, it's like i said, it's about respect. anyone would be upset to be called in a way they dislike. my ex was a trans girl and i saw a lot how that hurt her. it's fine if you don't know, and it's fine to get it wrong, the problem is doing it on purpose, it's mean and unnecessary. but like i said, it's not the worst form of transphobia, just a gateway drug
  • 2
@darksideofyay most definite, I agree, there really is no need to go out of one's way to just be unnecessarily mean or ill spirited towards other people.
  • 1
  • 3
@darksideofyay You can't respect yourself that's why you need validation and forced respect from others.

Thats not respect, its validating your delusions
  • 1
@stackodev wow those look like good sources and not biased at all *sarcasm*

  • 2
    Is this reddit?
  • 1
@darksideofyay You didn’t read any of them, obviously. Just had the knee jerk reaction of discrediting them without any investigation. Where’s the lie?

“In 2011, a study began to evaluate the impact of administering puberty blockers to younger children. By 2014, when the study had just finished recruiting its final participants, GIDS lowered the age at which young people could be referred for treatment with blockers from 16 to those in the early stages of puberty.”

“There was no lower age limit as such, but it meant in some instances that children of nine or 10 could now be eligible to be referred for this medical intervention.

By 2015 GIDS was struggling to cope.”

    https://bbc.com/news/uk-56539466/
  • 2
    @darksideofyay

“The controversy deepened in 2020, when the centre was taken to court by Keira Bell, a former patient, who argued she had been too young to consent to the medical treatment overseen by the GIDS that began her female-to-male transition as a teenager.”

    https://theguardian.com/society/...

“Tavistock transgender clinic could face mass legal action 'from 1,000 families of children who claim they were rushed into taking life-altering puberty blockers' weeks after NHS shut it down in wake of damning report”

@stackodev did you check the studies? ffs

It's all part of Mass formation psychosis. Fund studies that fit your biases.
  • 4
Let me reiterate, If they can get you to support a non-existent issue that never existed in human history in all of human history and has only been a recent phenomenon, they can get you to believe and "commit" heinous acts by justifying it in your mind.
  • 0
@jassole You mean like owning people which has been the norm for ten thousand years until recently we agreed that we can do better?
  • 0
We all base our livelihood off of knowledge that would have been useless or delusional two hundred years ago. Transgender people notwithstanding, the argument that something hasn't been discussed for most of history so it shouldn't be today does not work on this platform.
  • 1
@lorentz Wrong. Not all 10,000 year old ideas need to be thrown away just because a few bad ones have. That’s pure deconstructionism which is not intellectually or philosophically sound.

Many “old” or “traditional” ideas exist because they were hard-won and found to work over long periods of time. One of those ideas was the basic, common sense notion of NOT cutting off your body parts, taking chemical castration substances, and forcing others to say what you want them to say. In fact, those types of activities _were what conquering nations did to the people they subjugated and then destroyed_. Now, look at the current political landscape. Which major powers on earth stand to benefit from us doing these absurd things for all generations to come? And which one owns a certain video platform that has an algorithm specifically tuned to unleash and propagate this form of mass formation psychosis on everyone?
  • 0
  • 0
@stackodev but your lens is basically exclusively Western Europe and or approx 1946-1959 USA and the rich upper class of times who had power to have their ideas recorded and enforced.

So yea,not every idea come up with there is bad, but there are just other ways to view the world.

ETA and lots of other takes on what is traditional in gender roles and identities
  • 1
@jeeper Your timeframe assumption is WAY off. A quote from Epictetus c. 110 AD, Nicopolis, Epirus, Greece

“Man, what reason have you to complain against your nature? Because it brought you into the world as a man? What then? Ought it to have brought all persons into the world as women? And if that had been the case, what good would you be getting of your self-adornment? For whom would you be adorning yourself, if all were women? Your paltry body doesn’t please you, eh? Make a clean sweep of the whole matter; eradicate your—what shall I call it?—the cause of your hairiness; make yourself a woman all over, so as not to deceive us, not half-man and half-woman. Whom do you wish to please? Frail womankind? Please them as a man. ‘Yes, but they like smooth men.’ Oh, go hang! And if they liked sexual perverts, would you have become such a pervert? Is this your business in life, is this what you were born for, that licentious women should take pleasure in you? (cont.)
  • 1
@jeeper (cont.) Shall we make a man like you … and perchance a warden of the city, or superintendent of ephebi (male adolescent), or general, or superintendent of the games? Well, and when you have married are you going to pluck out your hairs? For whom and to what end? And when you have begotten boys, are you going to introduce them into the body of citizens as plucked creatures too? A fine citizen and senator and orator! Is this the kind of young men we ought to pray to have born and brought up for us?”
  • 0
@jeeper Or, to put it more simply and humorously: https://youtu.be/sFBOQzSk14c
  • 0
@stackodev so thousands of years Greek guy got tried to start toxic masculinity by wanting men who better fit his definition of men, which is skewed because to be literate and and able to have time to think meant you were wealthy. If ancient age helps, go read about Two Spirit culture.

No ancient or modern philosophy can excuse you from recognizing trans people exist and deserve treatment as people.
  • 0
@jeeper I have no problem treating anyone as a person. I do have a problem with participating in their delusionary behavior as if it is normal. I have an even bigger problem doing so at the threat of losing a job or incarceration. Fuck right off with _that_.

Also, so-called “two spirit culture” is not about cutting off healthy body parts and trying to create new ones from other body parts. It’s not about forcing others to play along. And it sure as FUCK is not doing it to little kids who have zero adult capacity to know the consequences and to consent.
  • 0
@stackodev people deserve respect and healthcare. Why are you worried about somebody else’s heath that much?
  • 0
@jeeper You’ll need to be more specific. Are we talking about “first do no harm” healthcare or “Josef Mengele/Alfred Kinsey” healthcare? Because those are very different.

    https://twitter.com/somenuancepls/...

    https://genderdysphoriaalliance.com/...
  • 0
@stackodev more like modern sensible harm reducing healthcare that keeps people alive rather than contributing to the suicide rate
  • 0
@jeeper Nice dodge. But you skirted the elephant in the room by failing to acknowledge that trans surgeries and chemical castrations are anything but health care and cause far more problems than they solve. And the fundamental fact is that a person is still chromosomally and biologically male or female after all the poisoning, slicing, dicing, and grafting. Biological men cannot get pregnant or have periods no matter what you do to them. Biological women cannot get other women pregnant in the way biological men can no matter what you do to them. There is no “care” there. It’s really all just apocalyptic, Nazi bullshit no matter how you dress it up.
  • 0
@stackodev I can't recall where I found it, but it was an article that essentially confirmed wanting to transition as a mental health issue to which the only solution was for them to, well, transition. Still, even after the fact, patients that went through hormone treatment/surgery would often commit suicide. Sounds pretty baseless since I do not have the article at hand to back it up, but I always thought there had to been better ways for people to deal with this without the possibility of them trying to do something to harm themselves.
  • 1
@AleCx04 Yes. Up until 5 minutes ago, it was successfully treated as gender dysphoria. It’s in the DSM-V. But all research, psychology, psychiatry, and medicine has been wokified. Nobody is allowed to call it what it is anymore. We are rapidly becoming the most anti-science civilization that ever existed.
  • 1
@stackodev well, I don't necessarily disagree. But what would you have it be then? If someone wishes to transition, what would be the obvious route to take?

You can have extensive counseling, which would still mean: helathcare, to see if it helps and has them change their minds. Or you can have none of that and have them kill themselves over a hardcore psychological issue.

My stand here is being human, yeah I don't want kids to transition, but I also don't want people going around killing themselves man.
  • 1
@AleCx04 Statistics do not bear out the conclusion that people who cannot obtain so-called “gender affirming” surgery kill themselves at anywhere near the alarming rates the trans advocates claim. Such suicidality doesn’t even register against the background of other reasons people struggling with mental illnesses decide to commit suicide.

    https://statsforgender.org/suicide/

But herein lies the problem. Immediately when I share these statistics, someone always leaps out to declare them false. Especially when it’s from an organization that might simply be saying “hey, let’s slow down a bit and do some studies that aren’t part of the goose-stepping going on in support of major surgical or chemical interventions”. Basically it’s “anyone who disagrees with ‘the current thing I support’ MUST be a liar”. So, yeah.
  • 0
@stackodev I didn’t skirt it, you’re just wrong. Access to trans healthcare is tightly correlated with a reduction in suicide rates and transition surgeries have among the lowest surgery regret rates of any procedure, cosmetics or otherwise. It’s not a regret rate of zero but it’s surgery, there is a chance something goes wrong.

You are looking at the whole argument through the lens of your identity and your the argument is not affected by your identity. You’ve reached the conclusion by looking at how you’d feel if for some reason you transitioned surgically. Now you are stuck on that conclusion and cherry picking (or just making up) arguments to support it. This is further evidenced by your comparison of trans to Nazi, because every a shallow dive into the subject would demonstrate that Nazis destroyed loads of research on trans identity and treatment.
  • 0
@stackodev which this whole discussion is off the topic of the rant, where you said “pronouns in bio bad” to which the easiest refute is ok tell me the gender of someone named Ashley, Leslie, Kris, Brayleigh, or Mackenzie. And that doesn’t even getting into non English names. The prevalence of putting pronouns non bio is helping everyone and you’d cut off your nose to spite your face.

Or maybe you are actually anti-androgynous name, but that movement hasn’t caught on yet. The connotations around names aren’t any less socially constructed than this around gender, but you want to act like one is underpinning society because you don’t want your patriarchal world view challenged even if challenging it would make you happier.
  • 0
@jeeper You are beyond help and completely brainwashed. Enjoy watching the world burn down around you. This is not a consequenceless world you’re building.
  • 1
@stackodev it’s you who are controlled by a fear of change by those profiting off that fear. Follow the money, you’ll find out quite quickly why certain people want you to feel like you do. It’s very profitable for the Kochs of the world.
