fucked up my hand, spent entire work coding like on a typewriter.

for those who want to know, dropped coffee dripper on my hand, full of hot water. it was a first degree burn thankfully, water wasn't that hot. hurt like hell at first, but it's much better already. by monday I'll be ready to be fully exploited for my work again 👍

@atheist those work different in Brazil. you have to go to the doctor and get a signed letter. i got yesterday off when i went to the hospital, but i still went back because a colleague is having a few days off and i have to take his load of the work

This has happened to me and it sucks. Made me wish for a one hand keyboard (they do exist, but they probably take way too much time to master)

@AleCx04 my luck was not burning my fingers, only below my thumb to my wrist. the problem was the pain, my wrist hurt like hell and i couldn't do things like write and hold stuff properly

@darksideofyay was this recent? did it heal already? that sounds super uncomfortable and painful

@darksideofyay oh well, good news then, happy to see that you are doing better, burns are no joke, in particular to a part of the body which is used a lot in our field.

I'll drink a beer to your good health, and may you never burn your skin again with hot fluids or whatever hot objects surround you!

Ah, that must have hurt. Take care

Remember to moisturize without additives like urea / perfumes etc... Burns can take weeks to heal, proper care makes it way less obnoxious.

    Hope it heals nicely.

Easy, just use a speech recognition plugin:

    - "Find CheckoutController"
    - "Add breakpoint in line 42"
Wait, undo. Revert! I said "breakpoint line 42!". No! "BREAKPOINT IN LINE FOURTY-TWO!!".
    - "Yes, Finally! Now, compile!"
I said "compile" not "go to file"!!!

    The future is now!

@SuspiciousBug to not curse for 8 hours... Lol. Nuts.

Yeah, coffee drippers are dangerous - and make bad coffee. Upgrade to a stainless steel (not the aluminium Bialetti shit) moka pot for the real coffee experience... They can still burn you, but at least the coffee is good.

@Oktokolo coffee drippers are perfectly fine. i was at my dad's and he's without a proper jar, so i improvised and it didn't fit well. i trusted it would hold a bit too much, and i let go of the handle, that was my mistake

@darksideofyay we addicts will never learn. :) ;)

(Seriously, I made coffee e.g. on camping in ways that were very McGyver style, from building a pipeline for hot water to prevent burning the coffee with too hot water to building primitive but effective water filters)
