I guess we dug our own grave with this, since nowadays most companies cut corners because "we can always patch later".

We had a customer that bought a system over 20 years ago. They finally had a failure in the system and tried to force us to pay down time for their process. Our management was like "The fuck you say!?"

"Just do everything at once and do it perfectly because why would we ever need updates if everything is perfect after the two whole weeks of development we gave you even though you specifically estimated that it should take approximately two months?"
