Been ready to start a new project for the last 6 weeks, and when I finally receive the last pieces of information that I need to start doing my work, I've grown so grumpy and sour that I don't want to do it anymore.

Oh. And the deadline will still be the same date as if they delivered 6 weeks earlier. F*ckers.

... And then I realize there's a blocker in the setup info I received, so I have to postpone even longer.

just hate this, I'm kinda in the same situation.

They reduced 1 month from a 3 months deadline and will only give me the information's I need one month from now... so I'll have 1 month to deliver the beta version for testing , I already told them it will be more like a prototype ...

And I'm here trying to run with what I have for now so I won't be screwed later :(

Too much of this going on in business. Part of the reason so many projects historically fail.
Frustrating because it does not have to be this way.
Maybe someday devRant can publish a dev process framework.

Check out the IDesign master classes @ idesign.net. Having the architects master class and project design master class under your belt will give you the tools needed to deliver on time, cost and quality each time. And the tools to prove the bogus schedules and staffing levels you're given will never work. No one benefits from starting a death march.
