I bet my ass that intellij idea beats the shit out of any other IDE. You js guys just never used something really good before.

It's not quite an IDE though so doesn't count.

@fun2code Atom is pretty awesome as a general purpose text editor, and in some cases as an "IDE light" — but it can't beat the power of Jetbrains.

They do one thing better than all others: support complicated mixing of languages.

Most modern apps and websites consist of a programming language plus framework magic, some config languages like yml and json, database queries in one or more dialects, markup and styling languages which might need compiling, semantically meaningful documentation syntax, and often some testing framework...

Atom supports a lot of syntax through plugins, but it doesn't always mix well. When you edit a Python file with raw Postgres queries, it will not warn you about non-existing tables, and won't autocomplete joins. Or try mixing Twig templates with Angular... Or try to click through the Laravel magic of scopes on models.

I can't live without my set of customized minimalistically themed overpowered Jetbrains IDEs ever again...

@fun2code sure man, was kind of in a bad mood there. For Java idea is the best ide. Js is a different thing. Sublime and atom are way more lightweight which is nice.
