    I think so. I love staying up to date on the latest hardware that helps me do my job.

    I hate hardware. if it were up to me, code would just magically run in the ether. no servers. no routers. no isps. no turn-of-the-millennium gateway all-in-ones that everything needs to work with.

    By hardware I meant the monitors and peripherals I use in my home desk setup; amongst other things.

    I think it's important to love what you do in this field, because you're going to be very frustrated if you don't. I sit at home after work for hours on end and program just for fun!

    Only when things aren't working as I want... Which is pretty much always.

    I use to geek out for hours on end... somewhere along the line I became detached and dev work has become a 9-5.

    hobbies, fitness, friends, etc have become more important at my old age.
