Sometimes in my company, I just want to shout "Java is shit". But I am afraid my coworkers will beat me, because they all seem to love Java. 😅

Nobody loves Java. They are just afraid to admit the truth.

    Java is awesome!

It is a good language ! I know you have to write many lines of code to make smthin happen. But still it's fun.

I'm a mobile dev, and when on interviews, if they ask me about android what I would like to answer is: "kill it with fire" but in truth I respond "I hate java, so please no..." the truth is android isn't bad, I'm waiting for kotlin to move into android now, but I prefer to be unemployed than working on java (joking, not that extreme)

I like java. It’s my first programming language. Shame it’s awful for so many things though.

Being a Python developer, I am really hating Java. I ❤ Python.

I'd probably join in with your team mates. Lol, I love Java. It was my first programming language.

I always wonder if people saying they hate Java really hate Java or actually just JVM. I hated Java before because it's slow and window programs often look ugly, but that's just the runtime. Since I'm working a lot with Java because of Android, I learned to like the language and think it makes a lot of things really easy and fun to do, compared to C. I just sometimes wish I had the same pointer functionality.

Python still looks like some kind of childtoy to me because it makes things too easy for my taste.

I love the idea behind Java even though it has its flaws. I get why so many people like Python but I personally have never seen any big Software Product that is built mainly on it in contrast to Java.

@NiPfix afaik, YouTube, Reddit, TensorFlow and a lot of other big commercial applications are based on python.

@siksik Okay reddit seems to be Python in its entirety. With Software Product I meant something one would download and use locally though. In that case I'd consider Python primarily a web lang. Java on the other hand I'd say is more useful in multi-platform use cases

    C# .Net > Java

@manFrame C# is much elegant than Java. Or maybe, Visual Studio makes C# better than most of the languages. 😎

You poor poor souls who actually think Java is good.

    I silently weep for you.

@Forside Lol, leave it to a Java developer to complain that something is "too easy"! 😂

In all seriousness though, Java is a travesty that needs to be purged from this Earth. It has probably done more to damage the discipline of software development than any other single thing.

How many countless people gave up on programming because they were forced to learn Java as a first language? What untold magics could we have had today, if not for Java ruining it for everyone?

And even those who did survive and stuck with programming, they have now learned terrible terrible practices and habits from this so-called "language" that the damage has already been done. You are tainted, tainted I say! Ye and your ilk, forever corrupted and poisoned by the plague that is Java!

    PLAAAAAAGUUUUEEEE!!!!

Sorry what were we talking about again?
