I'm not a specs genius, but I'd point you towards a gaming laptop, maybe? They're typically built to be powerful machines.

Or you could use your current computer with this www.paperspace.com/ml a virtual cloud desktop for machine learning you can use via ssh.
So that way you don't have to pay that much for a laptop.

You need at least 8 gigs of ram and a SSD. The rest seems irrelevant if you're not going to be gaming

@heyheni thanks man.. Those vm clouds are actually cheap at price

@dontPanic how about the GPU specs man? Which would be a reasonable one?

@IsDevEasy afaik laptop gpus are 99% shit. There are some high end laptops with gtx 1080 desktop versions, but they are really expensive and big and heavy. If I were you I would buy a good but not over the top thinkpad, like t or w series, and if you really do extreme projects with possibly weeks of calculating time, just rent a server, it is still cheaper and not such a pain in the ass

@IsDevEasy well.. I'm not so much into machine learning but focusing on a hardcore gpu in a laptop can be a pain in the neck. The best options are: get a desktop or rent an appropriate service. The specs I gave earlier are a general advice one should take into consideration when getting a portable machine for programming. You get a bit of ram so you can run any emulator you desire and a SSD so it runs smoothly.

I'm tired and hope the above text makes sense 8)
