Do side projects, even if they're small. If you already have completed side projects, show them off. Employers love to see your efforts and eat that up.

    Agreed.

I had around 15 projects I had completed before I started working for my company. My boss now wants them on his portfolio, is this a good thing?

@dgtlss What do you mean with your boss wanting your sideprojects on his portfolio?

@qbasic16 well they are more previous clients I completed when freelance. But he wants to add them to his company portfolio on the website. He says because I completed them before I worked here that he can use them to promote his company...

@dgtlss sounds sketchy to me... If you leave is he going to remove them from the site? Will he assign you to any client that hires the company due to that work? I would assume not...

@owithg I didn't know if it was just me being paranoid. He did the same to another developer who has now left.

@dgtlss Is that devs work still on the site?

@dgtlss if I were you I'd try that not to happen, although I understand it might be difficult if your boss is adamant on doing so

@dgtlss ok first of all: Your boss is an utter piece of shit, an asshole and an abusive cunt.

Secondly: Do you personally want your personal achievements labeled under another name on the interwebs? If yes, then this is done.

If not: Tell your boss politely, that you don't want it, because it was your personal achievement and that you don't want to be abused for the gains of some company.
I even think this is illegal, if you did not give your consent. It is misrepresenting the company.

If I were you I would tell him that he can gently go fuck himself with his penis-shaped arrogance and I would quit immediately.
