Disclaimer: kinda non dev related. Just working to pay the bills right now.

The other day I ran for the train to work, don't want to be fucking late, right?

Arrived and this guy asked me this: (I have a sweating/transpiration problem but I'm fully aware of that)

"hey man, ever heard of fucking showers or deodorant?!"

Yes, I was sweating my ass off and you could smell me but I can't FUCKING help that.

It was very embarrassing and humiliating to get that kinda comment in front of like 30 people but I just swallowed it and went to work.

After the first break, a woman from management came to me and pulled me aside. A few people had complained about how that guy from before said some pretty humiliating stuff to me and she said that the guy received a warning and was told to fucking learn to treat people with respect, regardless of their (health) issues/appearance. I also got an apology and a sorry and if I could keep my eyes open for such behaviour in the future.

I'm very glad that she apologized although it wasn't her fault because I know I've got this health issue and I can't do anything about it yet but it can MOTHERFUCKING hurt when someone talks shit about me when I smell and I CAN'T FUCKING HELP IT BECAUSE THIS IS THE WAY MY BODY WORKS TOO BADLY.

I felt protected and safe about my issue for the first time in my life.

Thanks management!

    Pay the bills? School fees?

I guess some deodorant may help though but yea the guy yelling probably was out of line.

Yea management can be very nice when it comes to personal issues. Guess that's the big thing that's keeping me at my job.... Hard to get new ppl to understand my problems and accomadate...

+1 for not replying to that guy and good luck ☺️

@linuxxx And the weather doesn't help here in NL lately, with 30c high moisture plus thunderstorms. The whole subway smelled like a whorehouse without showers yesterday.

@bittersweet Yeah and the work is lifting about 30 thousand kilograms a day plus walking like 10-30 kilometers as well 😅

@linuxxx I used to have the same issue, although you should avoid deodorant like Axe and stuff.. They just don't work

I use Dove myself (the clean and comfort one, with the blue tag on it). It works great and if you have space issues in your bag you could buy the small compressed variant (it should last like the normal one) and keep it with you :)

    @Russian Thanks for the tip!

I sweat a lot as well and it doesn't take much to get me going (plus I cycle to work) and I'm allergic to deodorants... But haven't really had any issues yet. I try to stay away from people.

I admire the resiliency to comments. I would have taken a dump on my hand and spread my shit all over his face screaming "DOES THIS SMELL BETTER FUCKING SON OF A BITCH"

I habe the same problem although I fortunately dont smell. When I arrive at work im as wet as when I would walk in the rain for an hour or so.

I got told by my boss that even though Im sweating more than others I smell least of them. That was really nice to hear.

@linuxxx I dont use deodorant because it even makes me more sweaty. I keep myself clean, shower daily, twice a week with soap. Soap will remove to much.

It wont make you stop sweating but it will take care of the smell.
