today morning my boss talking to the designer.

Boss: hey, when we can see the design finished for the web site asked by the client X?

Designer: hmm, about a day and a half, there are many pages and details.

Boss: heheheh, it's impossible, we need it today at the end of the day.

Me insid: wth, then why you ask him about the time like he have a choice..

Sounds like one of my previous jobs. That was actually worse as we devs even had to write quotes and even contracts! The CEO of that company had this naughty habit to contact devs directly without delegating through the CIO. Once, our CEO had me write a quote, only to tell me when I was done, that he had no intention to take that customer in the first place. So why did I have to spend hours writing a quote? "It's for your own personal development". He also used to make "jokes" and remarks that I found inappropriate, such as "You walk like a drunken sailor". I felt such a relief when I left the company and am fortunate today to have the best bosses one could ever wish for! :)

We got this so often where I used to work that we used to take our estimate add a day or two, then add another 50%.

@shiv379 That, on the other hand, sounds like my boss - a really nice chap - at one of my summer jobs in my teens. He told us, "Whenever you estimate the cost and time for any project, then double those figures. Finally, multiply that by five".

@TerriToniAX next time someone makes a joke like that, just answer something like "Oh, you have noticed? That's so nice of you! I've been practicing for weeks!"

@TerriToniAX I would have said I fuck like one too! 👌🏼

If you know the client I'd just get in touch.

"Hi, client... I'm being rushed to fit work into today by this fanny, but could finish it in a nominal time... what you sayin?"

Boss: "How much time will it take to develop that feature?"
    Me: "5 days"
Boss: "No, the client will not pay that much"
(discussion about why it takes so long)
    Me: "Ok, 2 days"

    Every fucking time...

@TerriToniAX if another person tries to cloak some bullshit shitty task with the phrase "professional development" I swear I will swing for them!

You know what really helps me develop? Actually doing my job, which brings about different challenges every day for me to overcome. Our even better... Give me time to pursue my own projects and learning! But what does nothing at all for me is doing that stupid fucking boring waste of time shitty task that probably doesn't actually need to be done at all or could be done by someone who is genuinely so fresh that they actually would learn something from it. The first time.

@Lensflare that fucking discussion about why it takes so long better have included the phrase "cause you don't neva shut up".

D...do we need a daily stand up to discuss where all your time is going?

@shiv379 Well, I did learn something, i.e. not to work for a jerk.
