rfc716828007yThere are two possibilities I can think of - either optimize work processes for more stressful times or prepare for future projects by "gaining knowledge" e.g. read, get to know new tools etc.
Worst case: prepare for exams at work if the seniors are OK with it. -
JinaJita2297y@nin0x03 I don't know if I am allowed to just read about the project (it's about taxes and I don't know anything about taxes. so a bit of background knowledge could be useful) but we a time tracking system where I have to say which ticket i'm currently working on and I don't know if I should ask whether or not i'm allowed to do that :/
and I don't have exams yet ( just finished my abitur (German a levels)) I'm starting to study in October. -
rfc716828007y@JinaJita Oh, ein Erstsemester! Viel Erfolg, ne. :)
I think it's OK to ask, having just finished school it's really relatable that you don't know that much about taxes as your seniors might. Maybe someone could open a ticket for that task? -
Had the same problem at my old internship. I needed internal documentation to finish my code and I was always told "I'll get it to you tomorrow"(this was every day for 2 months). I spent my time reading about the different tools and frameworks I was using in case they did finally give me the remaining documentation (they never did).
Ended up talking to the lead of another project and did some basic testing for them while I waited. Didn't learn a lot but it was better than nothing. -
dpobo157yDon't get mad, just try to improve and investigate as much as you can. You will get better and eventually seniors will realice out your effort and will delegate more tasks to you. As a senior isn't easy neither delegate tasks, because there are "sensible things" in projects (the core) and you need more global vision to take these properly.
Just don't exasperate and try to learn as much as you can, you need to walk before to run ☺ -
m0nk12417yI think you should do what i didn't and start developing on your own. Little things that might slowly add up to something and just go into new technologies. I would advise you to plunge into tensor flow. And kickstart before its a bit late because our field is on fiiiiiiiire

Guys I need your help. I'm a student working at a very small development business as a developer ( who would have thought) and I really love working there ( nice colleagues, I learn something every day) but recently I don't get enough work. it really feels like half of my day is spend running after the seniors asking for work and it starts to get really annoying not only for my but for them too. and most recently I'm just going home early because I don't want to just sit there unproductivly :/ but this is not really a solution either because at the moment I'm trying to work 40 hours ( I get paid 20) to get some overtime to not have to work as much as soon as my university starts. but now I don't get my hours and have to chase for work... does anyone have any advice for me?
