I just got like +20 for a comment to criticize a post too similar to those on 9gag. I'm understand from that that people here are for stories and not cheap laughs from memes. That both makes me happy and concerns me. After so long with memes and whatnot I've started to grow apart from them and appreciate but the clever of them and I'm glad part of this community does so to.
Yours lovely,

    Clever memes occasionally are ok.

Bullshit memes we've all seen aren't ok.

Reposted bullshit memes need to be killed with fire.

Yeah, I would like to petition for the removal of the image upload feature, but then there would be no more solid giggles about some ugly code, devRant stickers and other rant visualizing pictures...

Best is to strictly not comment on those reposts/memes but voting them down as reposts or spam.
Commenting increases the visibility of those posts, which is not what we want. 😉

@qbasic16 True, unless it's a new person. Then I say we alert then of the no repost rule.

Should add a repost-from-Reddit flair (or report option) too, I'm seeing the same shit I saw on Reddit this morning

@siksik please stop trying to moderate devRant. We don't need you to play backseat moderator and I've asked people not to play content police in the past. Thanks in advance. We appreciate suggestions but we've asked people not to comment on other people's rants and tell them what to post and what not to post.

@dfox I appreciate your work, but as you can see, I'm not moderating anyone. I'm exposing my opinion about certain kind of content, as your are doing about what I posted.
    Cheers

@siksik please see this rant: https://devrant.io/rants/609739/...

Specifically, we don't really want people commenting on other people's rants telling them what content they should/shouldn't post. That's what voting is for.

@dfox what ever. Your pen, your rules.

@siksik it's not to be mean or to tell people what to do. In fact, it's the opposite. We work hard to keep the community positive and people began to notice more hostility when someone decided they didn't like someone's rant.

I'd respond the same way if someone commented on one of your rants "stop posting this shit here" on a rant that didn't break any of our rules.

I've always thought censorship is bad, whether it comes from the admins or other users.
