Web version of whatsapp requires your phone to work, my phone is dead, fuck me.

They should spend money to make the web version better instead of dat stories shit that no one use

I think the issue might be with authentication, they'd have to make you setup passwords or something

Then you'd have to setup two key pairs. Not impossible but highly impractical I think. Also you'd have to rewrite the authentication mechanism. Although I'd like to see that as well (in Signal in my case as I don't use WhatsApp)

One of the main things whatsapp does is linking your Account to the phone number, or badically making your phone number your account. so chances are they just dont want it to be uncoupled for a good reason

They can't fix they web app. If they would do that they would admit that they store all your messages permanently on their servers.

    EVERYBODY, TELEGRAM!!!
I am making all my friends switching to telegram, i feel it someway better, at least because they actually make updates, every month there is something new!
I have heard that Zuckerberg wants to unite WhatsApp with Facebook... I don't know, but WhatsApp has no real update since ages

@mngr Nahh I used to use it but I find the privacy not even close to high enough (personally) :)

@linuxxx tbh... I have never read the privacy notes 😅
    Still too young, maybe

@mngr Tbh I haven't either but I research every chatting app I use to death because I want to know what can happen to my data. Telegram stores a lot of metadata (way more than required for the service to work), nothing is end to end encrypted by default and experts say that their home-written crypto algorithm (seriously unless you have one of the highest available degrees in math and a whole team/reviewers of those people, never write your own crypto algorithms.) has some bad weaknesses so it's a no go for me :P. (not trying to get you to switch but just explaining my reasons!)
