So I'm the position that I'm the one who's hiring new developers at the firm I work at, do you have any tips on things I should consider and look for.

In technical terms I know what we need but what about the personal things and how to get the right guy/girl?

If you have a list of questions don't stick to them. Use them as a base line and ask them some open ended questions. The interviews flow better for both sides when it becomes more of a conversation.

I also like to ask them to describe one their biggest achievements/name something they are proud of.

Ask what their process is for solving problems they've never seen before.

Ask what their priorities are when building new things.

Ask what they considder their biggest failure to be.

    Ask why they code.
