It really depends on the intentions and scope of what the client wants to do.
Magento
OpenCart
Drupal
SharePoint
....
There's a ton of CMS's out there besides Wordpress that offer wider options -
mito2468y@developerTom yeah, the ones you mentioned are for very different things. I was thinking more about the simple informative website with couple of pages and maybe a blog. Customer just want to be able to add/remove/edit pages without having to play with code
-
@mito oh ok, with that additional information of what the client wants - I would just recommend Wordpress.
-
The problem (as I see it) with worpred is that there is like a ton of different modules that all solves the same problem. Half of them cost money and doesn't work as they say it should. Half of the modules isn't updated for a long time.
It's like hell to find a module that solves the problem. -
emes0013198yI dislike WordPress because 9 times out of 10, the client only asks for it by name because their friend's 10 year old daughter's best friend Suzie recommended it. It's the same as them saying "I want a website in the cloud."
"Oh you just want a website?"
"Yes, but it needs to be in the cloud."
*facepalm*
And of that 90%, 9 out of 10 of those will never bother updating their website, and when they do, they will send you an email of their requested changes instead of doing it themselves.
This should've been its own rant... -
kb8816078yI can do everything you can imagine (in terms of client's wishes) with Joomla, but it's always a pain in the rear to get there
-
mito2468ySo we all agree that:
unless the clients just want it because is "cool" but they don't need cms, WordPress is rubbish. But if they need a website that is easy to edit/add/remove content WordPress is the best (although not perfect) option. Right? -
@mito actually if the client just need to be able to add remove content so do I prefer Drupal. but I'm a Drupal guy.
but if the client need to change things ( and maybe screw up) then wordpress :)
