@mrtnrdl Thanks for the suggestion brother. When I looked into their site I found out the laptop is not cheap and the price to performance ratio is less. Secondly, they don't ship here to India ๐Ÿ˜‘ . So I left that Idea. But thanks for the suggestion bro. Cheers!!๐Ÿ‘

16gb ram is ok but it’s not enough, a lot of the laptops support up to 16gb so if you want 24gb or more be sure to contact support.

@ahasbini put an SSD and watch it turn into a beast.

As for OP I'd go with Lenovo, I have a ThinkPad E530 got it December 2013, I only upgraded RAM to 16GB and replaced HDD with SSD, don't think I'll need a new laptop anytime soon. Battery now lives 1.5 hours since I have my settings to max performance

Can easily run 3 Linux VMs without facing performance issues. 2 Windows Server VMs are enough to make it perform as it was before replacing HDD

@rookiemaverick you skipped over the 1tb part hey, beside, price to performance ratio on those are horse shit.

@just-basic-user fo what, you trying to backup the Internet while running a VM for every other os under the sun while using Chrome?

I so seldom use more than 8 of my 16gb I rotate the chips around to make sure they both get used.

@RTRMS have you used one for more than a month and used as the only machine?

@rookiemaverick Yes, last job, I am not saying it is shit, I am saying when you compare price vs performance you get way more for your money with witha windows machine and even more when you format and install linux.

In my country, i7 MBP 16GB, 128ssd is about 40k
    Muy i7 16GB, 128ssd +1tb HD, Nvidia 950M 25k.

So almost half the price, for better hardware, and W10 is comparably performant against MacOS, and well fuck I put linux on it as I prefer a unix shell, because of working on MacOS.

Only thing mac would of done better is weighed less, and a better track pad, but I am not an ant so 1kg vs 2.5kg dont really mean shit. Plus I dont need to buy an adapters for everything, I get more than 1 port, and I upgrade hardware, like a bigger SSD or a bigger HDD or replace my ran if it dies, I dont have to replace the entire theng because it is a sealed integrated unit.

I do miss the trackpad though, that's one thing they did fucking well.

    @RTRMS
    System - 3gb
XCode (for server dev) - 2 or 3gb
    Android Studio - 4gb
    Chrome - 3gb
For the ssh and sshfs 0.3 or 0.5gb.

@RTRMS my laptop at work is very often at 20-30 gb (of 64) - 8 would barely be enough to boot!

Swear to god, fucking corporate shit on it eats my ram.

That and 5 Java servers running in paralell.
