    The general consensus I've been getting from various discussion online is this: If you are new to programming in general, go Java. Otherwise, Kotlin all the way.

    @ahasbini Even if that is all Kotlin offers, I'd say null safety (and forcing you to think about it) is a pretty good reason to use it, and syntactic sugar is often underrated or summarily dismissed for no real reason, when it makes things more readable (and thus maintainable), in my opinion.
