First day at the new internship. Boss man is pretty nice, but there is a language barrier I have to overcome. I'm supposed to be given a laptop, but the IT guy haven't arrived yet. Good thing I brought my own. I have been seated in the corner of the office, away from the rest of the developers, whose names I already forgot. Apparently I'm going to be doing miceoservices, but I have no idea how.. Am I the only one this has happened to?

    I remember faces not names
Haven't found a system to connect them. I'm guessing I'm missing a one to one relation in my head between the faces and names table

First day is the hardest. You will learn their names. When you meet a person try to do an association with an animal or any object to help you remember.
May not want to connect your personal machine to the network.
Good luck and keep us informed.

I feel your pain. First three days without a computer to program on since I had to use a specific VM from the company which wasnt created by IT yet. So I was twiddling my thumbs for three days straight.

At 11 we had a stand up meeting with the Pakistan based department on teamspeak. Nobody knew what push to talk was. Later I got my laptop running Ubuntu which I've never used before. Boss man was cool and spent 2 hours straight getting me set up. Suddenly it was 4 o'clock and he had other stuff to do, so he had me reading up on the Java Spring framework.. Or was it swing..?

I just finished an internship as a web developer in lamp stacks. all I had ever done was some c++.

needless to say, I was shite for the first 2-3 months. now I just got my contract extended and a £1000 bonus.

    don't worry too much.
