Ffs, I just want to get myself a goddamn domain, why is every registrar so shitty? Each of them has a major downside that makes me go away from their site! Bad payment options, way too high prices for a domain after a year, ...

Check http.net out. Great registrar, cool name. Literally http://http.net
    How awesome is that?

I switch them every year for that reason :P

@Kimmax is there also an https version?

@Kimmax Their whole system seems a bit confusing to me.

    Wich registrar have you tried?

@Skayo Way too many. The by-far worst one was GoDaddy because of payment options.

Ive registered my domain at a minecraft Server hoster for 5€ a year :) it was just the easiest to purchase.

@b3b3 Wow, that's an option I never considered.

@filthyranter it was the cheapest one i found in Germany. I could pay with PayPal and it's a prepaid system so I don't need to care about the domain for the next 5 years :)

Btw: Was? Du wohnst in Wien?

I have myself as a registrar, and I register friends domains, but don't have a customer accessible front-end, I do it manually for each of them

@Codex404 the partner backend is available in https, which is sufficient. The company name has no https variant tho 😂

@filthyranter it's a bit confusing, yes. Basically they provide a service you could use to resell the domains yourself, but you don't need to. You'll have to sign the partner contract (solid btw, read it myself, easy written), but what you get for it is awesome. Nice backend with easy to use registration and dns management, including zone templates etc. and a full blown API to manage EVERYTHING. From registering domains to DNS changes to SSL certificates.
Also the possibility for white labeling.
That's not a "yet another registrar", it's a registrar that is being used by other registrars down the chain.
And before you ask: I'm not associated with them in any way, just a happy customer.

@Kimmax Before I do anything there: What are all the payment options?
  • 2
@filthyranter at the beginning they allow you a credit up to 1k (I think it's dependent on how many domains you are going to have with them) which you can use in the backend. At the end of the month they are generating a invoice, which you can pay using PayPal, however they really want a sepa mandatory (?). Once that's signed the PayPal option goes away. I can really understand them tho, paypals fees are insane..
They offer to pull in all your domains from your current register, most of the time including dns settings, which is kinda nice to have.

Hit me up if you can't get a contract with them, I could add you as sub customer of mine and you could use that then.

@Kimmax Didn't want to use PayPal anyway ;)

    @filthyranter good choice :D

@Kimmax Also I reason why I highly disliked GoDaddy.
