    @b2plane it's not that far. Romania has one of the beste internets worldwide, bulgaria is not bad either. Way better then most of western europe at least.

    @b2plane in the Netherlands you would've never used capslock while being in a coffee shop. You'll probably need to buy some weed before you're getting WiFi access. Such struggles here

    Wow, like two weeks ago those college kids approached the P&D nerds at my (logistics) company to offer us an "opportunity" to sponsor their "new research" on mobile, shipping-container-enclosed, starlink-connected "data center units".
    I kinda failed to see the business case, but now it is starting to make sense.
    Maybe their market is providing on-demand computing capability to fucked up locations, instead of "your on-premises data center on high seas!".
    Gonna send them a print of your rant.

    @rootshell ah, Dutchy too huh? Yeah, I hate it here too. Wanted to migrate to Ukraine before. Netherlands is boring. In Netherlans you don't have any survival instict and your brain is just sleeping. Look at our media, nothing to write about. The covid period - some depression of that period stayed.

    I'm 33 but could buy a house when I was 21. Didn't do it "i can always buy a house". Was freaking homeless last year for a while. Could not find ANY house. Ended up in a chalet (which is nice, great maintained park, but VERY expensive). The housing crisis is serious.

    @retoor i quit my previous job because I couldnt find nothing close by and the travel time was killing me. Housing is legit fucked rn. Not even buying just renting as well. I would have been happy with a fucking room. But nope.

    that reminds me of the time, where I didn't have internet, when i was younger. Basically i owned a pc, but never had the money to get a wifi card, so i was basically using my first, own pc for probably 2 years+ without any access to internet. That must've been around the time, when WinXP was popular.

    Also funnily enough, before i started working at my current company o was scraping wifi everywhere, and knew all the free wifi spots in the area. But regardless i barely used up my 100MB per Month plan on my phone 😅 (often less than half actually)

    also a lot of reasonable suggestions for localhost dev here
