Since many of youtubes best creators are leaving in november due to the spartan google policies, just wondering where people will be going next? Any up and coming video platforms anyone recommends? Any of your favorite channels already switching?

    No because I don't watch alt right white supremacists content on YouTube

    Uhm, what are they planning to do? I didn't hear about anything and googling around hasn't led to any meaningful result. Could you give some context please?

    @7400 I;m a little out of my league as I don't follow it directly, but I keep hearing from friends about how their favorite channels are unhappy with youtube removing their content due to silly things. Things like videos not being interactive enough, not being long enough, etc. I will try and get better details but Ive already heard two stories about disabled people who are told their content is not right for youtube. "Shadow banning" is a term that has come up in conversations which is banning for reasons that barely fit, or reasons that aren't even disclosed. The atmosphere on youtube has changed lately, presumably in the name of profitability of content.

    @jaread What the heck is this supposed to mean? You think I am concerned if racist content is banned simply because I see a change in the atmosphere on youtube? Sorry I find this a little ignorant, as if you think that the only content that is banned on a platform is outright racist content. What about someone sharing their experiences with a disease? What about a clip that is informative but doesn't ask the user to subscribe? Should those be banned - because I'm hearing that they are being banned, and they have not even racist undertones, and were previously considered acceptable content.

    @7400 Google "youtubes new policies content creation"

    Idk who you consider reputable but scroll around and see plenty of content creators speaking out. Again I need to remember if I am going to ask questions I need to have a few ready to fire examples and indisputable announcements to back it up. Not being nasty - just mean that as engineers we should seek evidence and not just listen to rumors. I was kind of annoyed hearing yet again about youtube being a jerk, but Im not a creator, I dont know the pain points too well.

    @plumbus yes, the purge of hate content on YouTube isn't exactly perfect. There are plenty of 4chan-level trolls, edge lords, conspiracy theorists, teenagers who still use "gay" as a derogatory term. But just because you are slightly to moderately left of the daily stormer doesn't mean you shouldn't be demonetized (not even banned in most cases, so save your Free speech bull crap). YouTube is not a government agency and therefore can and should police their own content, just like go Daddy and cloud front with daily stormer.

    I don't think many would leave YouTube just to follow a creator.

    They might find new creators if they can't find the previous one.

    @jaread not talking about the same thing. Just forget it why do i waste my time

    @devrocket this is probably true

    @plumbus You're the one bringing Youtube and politics into devrants.

    @jaread maybe you read policies in original post as politics but you're the one who pissed me off bringing politics into it. I'm not fucking analyzing human rights or economics here. But yeah bringing youtube up in devrant, will try not to do that again.

    LinusTechTip and some other channels are working on a project to create their own media sharing website, a lot of creators are going to join them
