epse36587yIn a lot of countries, emails are legally binding these days so you could probably sue him

Python55357y@epse Indeed, even a verbal agreement is binding although much harder to prove than email.

Thanks for all the interest!
Haha, I'm sorry, but I really can't disclose it. I signed an NDA at the beginning of the deal and agreed not to share any of the information about the site. Let's leave it at the fact that he wanted to exploit something inside a niche website for profit.
I wish I'd had some sort of contract for him to sign at that time too, haha. I'd be much better off.
As for taking legal action, I'm broke and don't know if I can win any sort of case there. I'd have no idea unless I consulted an attorney and I don't have the money or time to really dive into that. I'm just gonna keep my head down and keep working through my bootcamp and avoid taking random gigs I guess
love you all ❤️

I was working on a website for a client and he wanted an illegal (breaking TOS) functionality and I refused to implement that part so he paid me $800 less than what he owed me. Unfortunately there was no real contract besides some emails detailing the specs and payment, and if I pushed it any further he would've charged back the money he already paid me. Basically I'm screwed :/
I guess now I know how important it is to get those contracts and detailed specs written out from the very beginning.
