Why the fuck did you guys change my vps to read only file system.

WHAT IS FUCKING WRONG WITH YOU, THIS IS LIKE THE 6TH TIME.

What do you expect to tell my clients?

I should look into if I have legal rights to migrate everything to a more stable provider.

Sick and tired of having issues because other people fck up. It's a shame I have been using this provider for 5 years without any problems. And now servers left and right start having problems.

    Linux remounts your filesystem to ro if it detects filesystem problems. Try fsck

    Linux mounts it with Read only after critical failures. Your hosting provider do not want your vps to have a Read only system.
    And as @Kimmax said, run a fsck and recheck your filsystem

    I can't since it's I can't ssh into the server when this happens.

    It's the 6th time it happens so far every time it was an easy fix on their part. But when asked for what the issue was I never get a straight answer.

    @MisterArie
    Is it possible to have SSH enabled at that point. Enable it in grub or initramfs or something.

    @Linux I don't know that much about servers. But I think all of that is in their control.

    Last time they had problems with their mass storage. Yesterday they had problems with their network. Maybe it's related? I dunno thats why I hire people to do this stuff so I can develop.

    Read only? Smells like hypervisor or hardware fails..

    @MisterArie
    It is related yes, Linux is quite a bitch sometimes after such failures. Windows is much better recovering from such failures.

    @lotd
    Yep, you are correct

    Maybe I should run two vpns with different providers wich are identical copies so I can switch when stuff breaks down.

    Already had 10 calls from clients xD and so far no update from my provider.

    @MisterArie
    No, have atleast three.
    Run Galera with glusterFS and use three A records for your clients ^^

    @Linux I'm trying out Galera anything else you recommend?, I am learning about these things and Galera is a nice start with Docker.

    @gitpush
    Yeah thoose are very simple but they works well!

    @Linux great they are simple, I'm not a sysadmin but I like to see how things work and try them out so that I don't be dependent on others. Good thing it is weekend 😀
