At a former company I introduced dev nights. One evening around two weeks that we all work on our private stuff at office. That was fun. Yes, there was beer

What paradise do you live in, where a company would allow it's devs to work on their private stuff on company time?

@Sid2006 once in two weeks we had devDAY. You were allowed whatever you want as long it benefits the project. But I was talking about devNIGHT. That's after work staying, working on own projects together and drinking beer. Company had real nerds

Sometimes I do things the "wrong" way or a really janky way just to see if it'll work

@kobenz coworkers that like each other and tech so much that they keep devving together outside office hours. Every Friday was crazy there. Special beers on the tap, snacks (even vegetarisch). Company also had two Playstations with big screen, table soccer, pinball machine, fatboys that you could put somewhere outside, meetings where in those. Also free use of company products (domain name, vps) and a free subscription to fitness around the corner. It was reachable on bicycle and I did swim every morning and sometimes with manager. Come&Go whenever you want. Nobody cares if you work 30h or 50h. I did travel for the company to UA a few times. It was a dream. But our customers came from OFAC countries. They're sanctioned. Bank didn't want to have our money anymore -> bankrupt. One of the best periods of my life
