Now the thing is that you get your management to approve using that software on you
-
@legionfrontier They developed their own tool. In reality it's just to log in working days... but still, it's pretty annoying. I still think that handing in excel sheets every month was better. But thanks for the suggestions (I wish I had this kind of power on the management though) :D

.... I hope they have a fucking good reason to use Silverlight, I searched something similar a few years ago when I was in a hosting company,a tool was need to keep an eye on the System/Network Administrator in the third party datacenter we were using since we didnt had our own people there to check/do stuff and had to hire local people, not like I have worked with that tools since I quit shortly after, anyway hang it there mate

*insert random joke about a hangover here*
I didn't tried it personally, but other people tried it and it apparently never worked - I didn't even bother after reading this. Maybe I was wrong? :S -
It would be a long shot tbf.
I mean it's silverlight why would anyone go to any effort to support it. -
@querellaMMXII let alone build something on top of it, its dead-er than flash by now
-
@querellaMMXII @legionfrontier I guess they decided to develop it a couple of years ago and it stayed in a drawer for some time.
At least you confirmed my doubts about silverlight being a very bad idea 😂

The new software to log in working time at my workplace requires Silverlight. I'm on Ubuntu. Basically after weeks of googling and trying different solutions, I decided that the easiest way to make it work was to install a virtual machine running Windows.
Right now I'm just trying to understand if there is some obscure reason for which they used Silverlight or if I'm just a complete noob who doesn't know jack.
