    Its hard to stay positive in an old enterprise, unless they have a very lax alcohol policy.

    @plusgut

    working at an old enterprise = pain and suffering

    Being able to drink at work numbs the pain slightly.

    Search for the story of the monkeys and the electric shock; expect things to be different from both the standards and the community you know.

    Here is a brief list (ymmv):
    1) You are there to learn, not evangelize.
    2) Depending on the team, "new development" may only make up 10% of their time. The majority of it is spent in meetings, break fix, politics, and other stuff that has company process around it. If they do let you code, expect tough code reviews. No matter your personal style, code to match existing production.
    3) Be helpful; if they have ITIL Incident/Problem, or an Operations team, look for trends in the breaks and automate fixes or find and fix root cause.
    4) Learn about "why" that team exists; including history, people, and the users
    5) Care; the ugly truth is enterprise software sucks and is kept working by the blood, sweat, and lives of a handful of people. Developers are "disposable" in today's world; learn why some stick with one project/app for their entire life.
