Going for a Unity game dev course that might have some VR stuff in it and I'm exited as hell about it.

There's always a but. I wasted nearly a year on a college that taught me very little.

Don't know what else to say.

Enjoy. I hope the remaining time you have in college ends up being better than your wasted year.

We love you BlueNutterfly, I haven't posted any rants lately but when I did, I got many ++'s from you.
    :)

    might ?

@ksdme They said they are adding it, but I have no idea to what degree. Also, I didn't study programming as a main subject. I chose C# at the university and that's where I learned stuff about coding even though I learnt some intro stuff through Python about it. And at the college I was supposed to study Web Interface Development. Couldn't take it. It was a freaking stinking pile of shit. Then I remembered about this other college that has some pretty good things going for it and well, I'm going to sign up and begin the course from October the 2nd.

@rc5-asdf Here as well. University comes first to me now even though I should've graduated two years ago. It's mentally exhausting to me. The college was just for a qualification certificate and I just cannot be bothered.

That other college can just about be my ticket into good employment options.

Another bad thing is that I got expelled from the college for not passing the jQuery exam(the subject which was taught in a piss poor manner, I might add), and my family has no idea. They'd pulverise me if they knew. But hey, at least I got registered for a course guaranteed to change my life as BOTH VR and Unity are growing here and I really want to do stuff with that.

To recap: I spent a month with my best friend, broke up with my boyfriend, am in process of cutting him and another „friend“ off from my life, looking for a friend they didn't care to look for, got expelled from the college, returned to the university, registered for game dev course, quit yoga for a while and all this mess is a pain to deal with. My life is usually a whole lot of shit to deal with that I just don't know how to deal with at all and a tight schedule for it. Sorry, I had to. I can't take all the not being able to talk to people.

@BlueNutterfly I'm to hear that, I wish you all the best.

@BlueNutterfly sorry you've had such a rough time, but it seems like you are starting to get things on track. And yes, sometimes you just need to talk about things to help clear your head a little.

@rc5-asdf Also wasted an additional year, about to be a year and a half at the university just because I hated a LOT of subjects. The only ones I liked were Microbiology, Drawing(in planes. It had two parts, hand drawing and then AutoCAD and it was interesting to me as I had never been taught that), Tea Technology, Fish Technology, Storage and First Processing of Fruits and Vegetables and then out of nowhere, seemingly, Programming, which I chose as an additional subject.

They also changed up a huge amount of subjects and I had to adapt. They told us before the registration of the subjects we wanted to learn(for those who failed the subjects), that we could choose Beekeeping and/or Silk Production. Just ONE day before this study year began they tell us the subjects have been moved to the next semester. I kinda wish the Beekeeping were an option. I have memories with bees.

Edit: I'm the type whose brain REFUSES to learn anything it doesn't deem interesting.

Oh, another thing... They might be getting worried I ignore them all the time. I fucking hate that. I want to be left alone! Not to be worrying about whether some asshole is going to like something I did... And yes, they're basically acting like that at this point. I cannot be seen being anything but a happy zombie in this family or they make it a thousand times worse. It's harsh.

Well don't be that focus about "loosing" a year. I lost 5 years in University x) I would have prefer to not spend so much time with games at University and used this time to work on personal projects though. But when you see everyone playing during class, that's weird.

@Celes I say I wasted a soon to be year and half, but I haven't beaten the university after getting to it in 2012 -_- I don't even want to say how much hatred I'm feeling towards myself about that.

There are other factors contributing to my horrid state of mind. I just wish I could get rid of those variables. I wish I could clear some things up.

@BlueNutterfly damn I didn't read the comment where you released everything. Well I don't want to do some competition, but I broke up with my fiance after 7years, quit the university because I learned nothing (I was there just for people saying that you need a master degree to have a good job). And now I'm alone in my apartment searching for a job to live and repaid my bank loans of 15000 euros x) So I can sympathize easily with your current situation xp

Just for saying that if you want to speak, I think we're nice enough here, so go ahead ;)

unity is awsome regards to VR, I am currently developing a VR Ship tracker using Unity and Google VR SDK, without any previous experience and there are so many tutorials, forums, and documentation that helped me and my team you'll be surprised of how much resources there are available on the internet including courses

Everytime I start a new Unity project, my best idea is always to just make a better character controller, then I run out. I suck at Unity

Update: The course might not even happen. There are only me and another person I don't know that showed up. I was contacted to find out whether I was seriously thinking of going through the course and told that two weeks later they will have an answer about how things will go.

    Dammit :S

@BlueNutterfly you seem.very unhappy about this university thing. Did you think about applying to a company job and stop studying if you get a job?
  • 18
@plusgut One cannot get a job without a diploma in a majority of cases, so... I'm pretty much doomed to be in this state unless I can make myself do something on my own. My "friends" and I were thinking of making a game dev studio, but because of some disagreements I have erased them from my life. I would love to be a game dev and at least do something that will be remembered. Nothing happening yet. The course was supposed to be in a place where I would have a lot of chances of employment if only I were active. Not sure how it will go now.
