advice && !rant

I'd love some advice from you iOS devs on devRant:

- Is it a solid career choice for a new grad? Does it limit your skillset early on?

- How open/active is the ecosystem and the open source scene?

- Storyboards? Yay or nay?

- What do you like the most about your job?

- What do you dislike the most about your job?

Thanks guys :)

    hey, i aint an ios dev, but android is kinda similar

    id say, there is still room for mobile apps, people stopped commissioning wrapped websites, and actual native apps are becoming more common

    not the best for freelancing tho, everyone wants to have a 95 platform release for $5 on that market

    i love being a mobile developer because my colleagues are usually oriented towards the same tech as i am, as opposed to say web, where people will die for their preferred framework

    Contrary to @BindView 's statement I think that there are significant differences between iOS and Android development.

    iOS is much harder to get into - not because it's difficult, but because you need
    1. Some kind of dev license from Apple
    2. A mac to use their IDE and compile for iOS
    3. Apples compliance to have your app added to the App Store

    Whereas you can just download everything for free and start developing for Android on the OS and IDE of your choice (allthough I'd strongly recommend Android Studio).

    I assume that there is not much of a open source scene on iOS, since you need to generate money with your software to justify these investments.

    On the other hand however, there is more money to be earned with iOS apps, since the customers - allthough fewer - tend to be willing to pay more for your app.
