So my ISP decided it was ok for them to log into my router remotely and re enable the wifi.

I turned it off for a reason and no your excuse that it will improve my upload speed is bullshit you stupid patronising fucking shithead.

I'm now seriously looking into cancelling my service with you because you don't respect your customers or their wishes.

Also I'm guessing there's a default backdoor password into the router as I changed all the passwords I could find. Meaning the whole thing is horribly insecure.

    Can’t you install custom software? I haven’t done it myself but I know some routers allow it

    Unfortunately not, that's why the work was turned off.

    The isp router is set up with everything turned off but the internet connection, a cable then goes to my ddwrt router which is set as dmz on the isp router.

    Essentially I use the isp router as a modem.

    Might need to look into a replacement now though.

    I suspect it's in the 1000 page tos somewhere.

    The fact that they thought turning on the wifi would increase the upload speed is horrifying.

    So turns out it may be TR-069 that their using to control the router remotely. Not so bad as I originally thought.

    But still changing settings that I have disabled is unacceptable and I will replace your shitty piece of future landfill as soon as I can find a replacement.

    Last time they did that, I got the root password, disabled their ssh key and deleted the firewall rules.
    They probably can fix that by docsis, but they haven't so far

    I'm actually confused why your ISP would re-enable your WiFi unprompted. I see absolutely no benefit to them and ISPs don't usually do things that don't benefit themselves.

    In my case it was the public WiFi, nation wide network, but it makes no sense to me if every freaking household enables it, it only worsens the signal.
    If they do it again, I'll desolder the chip or cut the antenna with a plier,we'll see 😇.

    I'm honestly shocked by the amount of routers that have default backdoor logins from either the manufacturer or ISP, which is usually compounded by the comical usernames and passwords... In most cases I've found the backdoor login is usually something like,
    Username: admin
    Password: root

    @nbamaral before you desolder, you should see if the antenna is detachable from the PCB. This has been the case on the embedded WiFi I’ve come across (Nintendo 3ds, several laptops).
