Internship number two.

*walks downstairs to get a coffee*
*CTO (my guider) walks in*
CTO: (dead serious face) "linuxxx (not using my first name :P), come with me please"
*walks along to his office, starting to get reallly fucking nervous*
*CTO and me walk into his office, he sits down and looks at me very serious*
*I'm slightly shaking, nervous, sweating*
CTO: "So."
*oh yes here it is its gonna come I did something wrong fuck fml 😫😥😨😩*
CTO: "So you know quite some stiff around security/privacy. Could you tell me some stuff about why I'd want to use VPN and recommend me some good providers? 😀"
😅
*nearly falls onto the ground from relief*

I explained him some stuff and sent him a list of good providers 😀

Can't wait for that privacy website to come online.
For the mean time I'm considering CyberGhost VPN, any other recommendations?

@gitpush MullVad! They don't require ANY personal information and you can even send them an envelope with cash :)

@linuxxx great, will check it out thanks man 😀

@linuxxx from your last few rants I notice some Atychiphobia (fear of failure, and yes I ducked ((not googled)) that 🙃) I don't know if you actually have it and/or still have it, but if so. You don't have to think so negatively about yourself, I know you are a good programmer (and person) the only thing that you miss is experience, but that's why your a junior 😉 we're allowed to make the obvious mistakes, we're even expected to make some really stupid mistakes.

@incognito Oh yeah I've got that big time! Still gotta learn how to beat that one :)

    @incognito Daarnaast, mogguh :P

@linuxxx. Let me guess... You never went to the principal's office.
I had my own chair :P

@Mobius True haha but in my defense, we don't really have that over here 😅

@linuxxx ok, that's new for me. Anyways... yeah... when it comes to your job it's not fun. Big relief.

@linuxxx, @purged has posted some good advice, if you look at the top rants of all time, it's the 3rd (1.7k ++) maybe if you have some time you could read it?

@linuxxx also MullVad, I'm currently looking into it and holy sh*t they allow port forwarding? 😯 and it does not block p2p? I may have found a better vpn for my whole server
  • 3
@gitpush I've been using private internet access (yes that's its name) reliably for over a year now. They come highly recommended, are one of the more inexpensive providers, and has good customer support and doesn't retain logs.

@Koolstr Looks promising, though I forgot to ask, does it have big effect on connection speed? I have a 2Mbit line, and usually avoid VPNs cuz they reduce my speed down to 512Kbps :S
  • 1
@Koolstr me too! It really is inexpensive, works well and has a ton of dedicated servers all over the world so you can choose your location. Don't know about the logs stuff, they say they don't keep any, but so does tunnelbear...
  • 1
You look like a Randy or a John to me, maybe a Stephen, so I am going to selectively call you that until one of them sticks and I figure out your name.
  • 5
@Koolstr i used to use them! Thing is that they operate on US soil meaning of they get a secret court order for tracking reasons, they HAVE to comply.
  • 0
Might be completely legit, of course, but I'd wonder what mischief the boss is up to!

What's the deal with all these CTOs? Who the fuck is appointing them? Are you sure you and @BM32 don't work for the same company?
  • 0
@linuxxx that may be true but they don't retain any logs so they end up with no information to hand over. This happened before and that was the result - nothing. So no worries.

What do you use now instead then?

@ocab19 they really don't though lol. I looked it up and verified from past incidents
  • 1
@gitpush valid question, can't believe I forgot to mention that. There is minimal effect on the connection speed. In some cases, it even improves my connection speed.
  • 1
@Koolstr this is cool, I'll sure check it out, hoping it doesn't have big effect on my connection speed

I used to have this problem. Once I learned self-awareness all this nervousness when away.
