mt3o19137yReact is not MIT either. MIT has no patent restrictions. React does have them.
To be strict, React is BSD+patent clause. "its open source as long as you allow us to use your patents without paying". -
Froot75397y@mt3o React used to be BSD + Patents (which I still believe was fine but oh well). Now it's MIT
@Torbuntu Why not? It's the best out there at the moment -
What you posted is the product license, as in the built version of vs code distributed by ms.
-
@Torbuntu i know you are anti fb. But I have never heard why is react bad, at least not comming from you. Any alternatives that are better than it?
-
Cyanite84917yI tell people it's open source because it says that when you go to download it, honestly I never checked 'cause I wasn't interested in the source.

mt3o19137yThey are derevatives, not OS itself. There have been a lot of fuss about Android. After all, ROM creators can ship modified AOSP but having gapps, not to mention modem drivers, included requires them signing special agreements.
If Android was truly OS, Microsoft wouldn't tax vendors for not-being-sued over patent claims. And no one knows what the patents are. -
mt3o19137yNever heard of 3rd party provider who pays Microsoft the tribute ;-)
Perhaps there are more stuff than just gapps.
If you can provide one such case where 3td party ron vendor is harassed, please, bring it. -
mt3o19137yThis whole thing reminds me of SCO case, funded by Microsoft itself, against Linux contributors in general.

How I hate all those people who think VisualStudio Code is Open Source. It's not! Read the f*cking license!
https://code.visualstudio.com/licen...
In fact, you aren't even allowed to inspect its network traffic. Not to mention reverse engineering. That's nowhere near OpenSource.
You sure can download the source code, licensed as MIT, but building it won't give you the same piece of software.
Don't believe in everything someone tells you. Use your brain and check the facts.
